A Poem For Sunday: The Summer Sun Shone Round Me by Robert Louis Stevenson

The summer sun shone round me,
The folded valley lay
In a stream of sun and odour,
That sultry summer day.

The tall trees stood in the sunlight
As still as still could be,
But the deep grass sighed and rustled
And bowed and beckoned me.

The deep grass moved and whispered
And bowed and brushed my face.
It whispered in the sunshine:
“The winter comes apace.”

Cool off with Some Homemade Popsicles

It’s 100 degrees in the NYC area today but it feels more like 105.  When it’s this hot, I find the best way to cool off other than drinking water is enjoying a nice cool popsicle.  As HuffPost Taste noted in their recent article, nothing quite beats a homemade popsicle. They surfed the web and came up with 31 amazing popsicle recipes.  Some of them are adult fortified while others are tasty refreshing treats for the whole family. We’ve previewed three below but you can find the full listing over at the HuffPost Taste blog. image Melon Berry Diablo Cocktail Popsicle recipe by Bakers Royale   image  French 75 Popsicles recipe by Petite Kitchenesse   image  Mango Lassi Popsicle recipe by A Spicy Perspective
