Earth Day 2015: Saving Our Planet is in Our Hands

Today we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and more than 1 billion people in over 200 countries will be participating in activities to save our planet.

Yes, climate change is real and is happening right now!  Yes, the earth is getting warmer!  Yes the polar ice caps are melting! Yes, the bees and frogs are disappearing!  Yes to these and a million other facts that prove we are destroying Mother Earth.

What are you doing to help in the fight?  Join the movement now and take action to support "A Billion Acts of Green" to save our planet.

At JenSan Home and Body, we offer a wide selection of handmade natural organic soap bars made with shea butter sourced from Fair Trade cooperatives in Africa.

A Poem for Easter: A Prayer in Spring by Robert Frost

OH, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.

Oh, give us pleasure in the orcahrd white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.

And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.

For this is love and nothing else is love,
To which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends he will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.

HAPPY EASTER and a wonderful spring from Jennifer and Sandra

Spring Spruce-Up

We had some snow flurries in our area of NJ this past weekend but there is no denying that spring in in the air.  In fact, it officially started today at 7:02 am.  And if you are like us, this is also the time of year when you start to think about sprucing up your home both inside and out.  Jennifer and I have a lot to do this spring.

Here are just some of the projects on our list. • Replace the roof on the garage—check…completed two weeks ago • Clean out garage—still to be done • Paint our nephew’s room—Jennifer completed this this past weekend • Sort and donate old clothes to Salvation Army • Spruce up the yard and garden —visit to garden center in near future • Build a new kitchen table—Jennifer’s goal And so much more!

To get tips and ideas for our projects, we’ve been religiously watching HGTVand DIY Network.  Here are some tips we picked from the latter. Read more

It's 7:02: Welcome Spring!

Once more the Heavenly Power Makes all things new,
And domes the red-plowed hills
With loving blue;
The blackbirds have their wills,
The throstles too.
Opens a door in Heaven;
From skies of glass
A Jacob's ladder falls
On greening grass,
And o'er the mountain-walls
Young angels pass.

A Poem for Sunday: "Where the Sidewalk Ends"

"Where the Sidewalk Ends" by Shel Silverstein

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.
